For our two day art trip I took around 300 photographs or so with around half being in colour and the other half being in black and white, I was shooting in my 35mm Digital Sony A7R which should boast around the same quality as 35mm Analog Film, London is such a vibrant and rich landscape which really offers great potential for photographers alike to grab a good shot.
Because there I chose around 50 photographs for this blog-piece I decided it may be a good idea to upload them in their full resolution on Flickr where they'll be more appreciated. You can find a link for that album here. For this however, I'll just showcase some of my favourites out of that set:
What I learned from the trip:
- Places in london allow you to become invisible, as a street photographer you appear as a tourist to the general public so on the whole people will ignore you.
- High apertures are incredibly useful as it gives you the ability to capture more detail in focus and allows for a lesser margin of error when grabbing a quick shot.
- I also picked up a book on street photography which I have been reading since, its litterally a gold mine full of tips, tricks and techniques within the genre
- Bring spare batteries/sd cards, I ordered a extra batteries before the trip but they didn't arrive so I only had one for two whole days, I brought my D3200 with both lenses as a back up but it made me really conserve and really give a lot of thought before I took the photograph as I didn't want to waste the battery. Luckily the new camera can also be charged via USB so whenever there was a spare plug around I attempt to charge it.
All in all I believe that my work from London is probably some of the strongest I have produced yet and has inspired me to shoot more in town to try and capture the moment.
